Q2 Update: Farewell Mainnet, DAC, dNFT, Airdrop, Relay bridge

Hi team,

In Q1 we went from focusing on releasing the NFT collection on Mainnet, to fully migrating our Ludus token from Mainnet to a layer 2 optimistic rollup solution in Metis.

After discussing with the community on our main telegram channel, my decision of deploying the Athlete collection dNFT on Andromeda (Metis chain), shoutout to one of our community members (Mark) suggested that we bridge the token as well.

Even though this implied a shift of the focus from our NFT Collection release, it would make it cheaper for our holders to bridge the tokens and trade them on the layer 2 roll-up solution with lower gas fees that we are already going to.

Metis is 105.5x cheaper to send tokens, and 70.4x cheaper to swap tokens than Ethereum

On the other hand, we would now be strategically positioned for the technological advantages that the Andromeda chain has over the rest of the optimistic rollups.

What makes them different from other optimistic rollups?

It's just that they are built differently.

How?

Their ecosystem is built around DACs.

On top of it, there is a lot of technology like the NFT bridges and the decentralized IPFS storage that they are offering, including the lowest bridge time and lowest gas fees across all rollups.

Let me take something from the Metis Learning Hub to properly introduce DACs.

First of all, what is a DAO?

The problem with centralized organizations is what is known as the principal-agent dilemma where the agent (person or entity) makes decisions on behalf of others (for example users of an app). If the agent acts in its own self-interest then this might disregard the interests of the principals.

The challenge is that DAOs are fairly limited in what they can do. DAOs can be used for a lot more than just governance voting however building out this framework would require too much time and resources for a project to do.

So what is a DAC?

A DAC is basically a DAO without restrictions and goes beyond just governance and voting. A DAC will serve all functions of a fully functioning business.

Like middleware for a Web 2 business?

With our middleware, all you need is a minimum viable product to deploy from web 2 to web 3. DACs will be able to deploy their own decentralized applications and tokens with a click of a button. Users can have roles, permissions, HR, project management, payroll, communications and more.

Now, a great article from hackernoon to get into more detail.

There is more to a DAC than just the middleware for a company.

In order to create a DAC, you need to stake some bonds first in the Meta Staking Contract.

Why staking bonds?

Because, based on the Optimistic Rollup mechanism, the staked bonds will work as the commitment to perform as they promised.

And that’s where Metis Protocol is different from most other governance protocols. Metis Protocol is not just building a voting tool and leaving it to the community for its own use. Metis Protocol is building a fair-play, transparent, and universal mechanism to empower the community members to collaborate without worries.

There is more?

As you can probably see by now that there is a lot of development that has to be done around DACs, however, there is one more twist.

From a great thread on twitter:

With DACs come private data; not everything can be published on the blockchain for everyone to see! Each MVM (DAC) has a built-in storage layer that uses Interplanetary File Service (IPFS). IPFS), allowing for separate computing and data storage.

This will be essential for the image storage of our Athlete Collection, allowing us to decentralize the data storage of the images. And furthermore, for the data functionalities of the main app.

How are we going to travel to Andromeda?

None of this would have been possible without the hard work, transparency, and support from our new friends at Relay Chain.

Are we bridgoors yet?

Yes, I am proud to announce that we are currently live on the relay network, to bridge from Ethereum to Metis.

We are the 8th token to use their bridge.

Where will $Ludus trade?

The new decentralized Pool is currently live on Netswap.

This is our contact address on Andromeda: 0x0389CC74cc0e0600ae7687ecF8237c8EEb872C6D.

Here you can add liquidity to the new Metis/Ludus pool on Netswap.

Airdrop incentive to bridge

Every wallet that bridges Ludus to Andromeda will participate in a snapshot to be taken on May 14th UTC at 00:00 (Only 1 spot per wallet).

Will be airdropped a special and limited edition NFT based on the original and first sketch of our Athlete collection, hand-drawn by our main artist Roberto shown below.

Each Airdropped NFT will be exchangeable for 6 NFTs from the Athlete collection.

Where does that leave our Athlete collection?

Even though the line design and art are already determined and the traits are ready to be shipped, we now have a much clearer view of what to build on Andromeda.

We are working on the front-end of the minting page that will be attached to our main playludus.io website and back-end smart contracts for a smooth launch.

When release?

Our new goal will be to release the Athlete collection by May.

Meanwhile, we will work to add a few traits that will add context and culture to the collection’s value.

You can follow our account here, our art even though it has not been paid to promote has organically reached thousands of people through Twitter.

Even support by internet Athletes ❤

I could not be more grateful for the support from all over the world around the idea of decentralized sports and now with new all of this new technology, I believe more now than ever that this will be the future of sports.

Even though there is still a long road ahead, we have now upgraded everything that we have that will help us get to the end of the road.

How else did we improve?

Let me introduce you to one of the most recent partners of Metis, Chainlink’s new service, Dynamic NFTs (dNFT).

Put simply, a dynamic NFT is an NFT that can change based on external conditions. Change in a dynamic NFT often refers to changes in the NFT’s metadata triggered by a smart contract. This is done by encoding automatic changes within the NFT smart contract, which provides instructions to the underlying NFT regarding when and how its metadata should change.

What??

Let me run you by a scenario that's now possible to do:

Your profile on the Ludus app is your Athlete dNFT which is connected to the Ludus Wallet.

Your Athlete holds your Ludus League rating as a trait that is updated every time you play a competitive match.

At the end of each season or tournament, relative to your performance in your preferred sport your rating within your dNFT will be updated.

This allows the art of your digital asset to be updated and therefore its traits. Achieving a rarer trait will be solely dependent on your performance in the Sports League in which you are participating.

These have been and will continue to be strange times, times of change, and we are changing and evolving with them.

I believe that connecting athletes around the world by incentivizing them and rewarding them fairly when they compete can have a major impact on the world's adoption of these technologies and allow for the true soul of sports to change one athlete’s life.

To a better future
